Included Workshops
  • Begin your morning with gentle movement and setting intention.

  • In this workshop, you will learn the basics of frame loom weaving from warping the loom, to drafting a design, and to learning basic tapestry techniques. I will work alongside you, helping you develop your piece through every step of the textile-making process.  We will explore structure, image building and materiality- students will have the option to incorporate a variety of fibers and intentionally sourced objects such as dried botanicals, shells, stones, and beads as part of a process I call “tactile collage”.

You will leave this class with a small wall-hanging or “woven drawing”. All materials will be provided and each student will take home their own Hello Loom to continue working on their project and weaving practice art home.

  • Join us for a 4-hour immersive workshop where you'll create your own woven shoulder bag or market tote. Perfect for beginners and weaving enthusiasts, this hands-on session offers a chance to explore 3-dimensional weaving techniques while crafting a functional, beautiful form. Guided by textile artist and educator Jessie Mordine Young, you'll learn the essentials of weaving and transform your creative vision into a tangible piece. Using recycled cotton cord, you'll produce a durable, flexible bag in your choice of colors, making it uniquely yours. Jessie will also introduce advanced techniques to help you expand your weaving practice and create variations on your design.

  • Extend your weekend to include Sunday night at the Ranch and a natural dye workshop. There will be an optional dyeing session focused on preparing fibers for weaving. Participants will work with three different materials to achieve a range of hues. We will explore how plant-based materials interact with fiber to create subtle, varied color by incorporating mordants and modifiers. Each student will dye 3 skeins with materials provided, but you can also color your yarns purchased at the Sheep & Wool.
$300 includes the workshop & Sunday overnight private accommodation.

  • The GatherWild x Jessie Mordine is proud to offer a dedicated scholarship for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists and makers. This scholarship is designed to support greater access, representation, and equity within fiber arts by removing financial barriers to participation.

    What’s Included:

Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary workshops led by Jessie Mordine; all materials and instruction are fully provided. The retreat also includes on-site accommodation and entry to the Sheep and Wool Festival, offering a comfortable and restorative environment to learn, create, and connect in community.

To be covered by the scholarship recipient:

Transportation to and from the retreat and meals are covered by the participant.

This opportunity is intended for BIPOC individuals who would benefit from financial support and are interested in exploring or expanding their weaving practice. Through this scholarship, GatherWild and Jessie Mordine aim to cultivate a more inclusive and supportive creative space, where diverse voices and practices are welcomed, valued, and nurtured.

To apply, please send a letter of intent and any past work in a portfolio (either in a PDF or website format) to hi@jessiemordineyoung.com and laura@gatherwild.com.
